Frequently asked questions

  1. How is the transmitter secured?

The transmitter is attached to the vulva lips with three sutures.

  1. Does a vet need to attach the transmitter?

It’s important that it is attached professionally; discuss this with your vet. The video on our website clearly explains the correct method.

  1. Is there a risk of a false alarm?

False alarms are not possible. If something goes wrong, such as an internet failure, you will be called immediately.

  1. How long before the due date should the transmitter be put in place?

For young mares, ten to fourteen days before the expected date. For older mares, your experience with the mare is important.

  1. Can I monitor multiple mares simultaneously?

There is no maximum number of mares; you will be called to inform which mare is due to give birth.

  1. Can the transmitter be used indefinitely?

Foalstart transmitters can be used indefinitely. The system can be used over and over thanks to the replaceable battery.

  1. What should I do after the foal is born?

No need to panic after the foal is born. Cut off the transmitter (mannequin with dogs). Then, clean the transmitter and remove the magnet for storage.

  1. How can I check the transmitters that are in use?

By logging in to your personal portal, you can see all the current information for each channel, such as whether the channel is active, what its range is, and when the last notification was received.

  1. How can I test the transmitters?

Very easily: insert the magnet into the transmitter and you’ll receive an SMS text message immediately. When you remove the magnet later, you’ll receive a call informing you that foaling has begun.

  1. Can I replace the battery myself?

Yes, you can replace the battery in model 4.0 yourself. See the user instructions.

  1. What are the usual costs for stitching in the transmitter?

Check with your vet.

Go to the mare as quickly as possible. Cut the transmitter off before the foal is born to prevent tearing.
